Samenvatting

It is well known that young drivers (18-24) run a considerably higher accident risk than other drivers. The object of this study (the English translation of VTI Report 389, and a direct continuation of previous research by the same author on the same subject) is to demonstrate a relationship between the lifestyles of young drivers and accident risk in road traffic. A total of 25 twenty year old drivers were interviewed about their driving styles, their habits, interests, morality and ideological beliefs. According to the results of the study a statistically significant relationship exists between high risk groups and unemployment, interest in cars and driving, emotional driving style, approximated moral limits and socially uncaring attitudes.
