Abundant limerock deposits exist in Cuba, and they are used to in different forms in construction in general. In the case of the highways, limerock began to be used at the end of the 1940s. Later its use lost rigor in the adequate selection of the materials. The increase in the consruction of highways and airports in the country led to a search for non traditional materials that can withstand the charges produced by traffic, and to satisfy the necessity of the works. Limerock is one of the non traditional materials that are now being used in. In this paper, the author presents the possibility that we have, the requirements that they need to carry out, a short analysis of different works, the economy that we obtain in U.S. dollars and in the consumption of energy whenever using limerock in substitution of traditional materials.
