Samenvatting

A series of focus groups has been undertaken to explore the drivers' reaction to the in- vehicle navigation systems (IVNS) and gain some insight into their expected changes in travel pattern. This paper discusses the approach and the findings of the focus group with young drivers and the old drivers. Since these two age groups have very different travel patterns, the usage of IVNS and the extent of impact on them would be different. The paper reports the differences and commonalities in the travel behaviour associated with the use of IVNS. Their existing travel pattern and route choice are also reported as a reference.
