Finding the right location for P&R facilities in urban agglomerations is important for the success of these facilities. Plans for P&R facilities are sometimes dominated by political considerations, resulting in location choices with limited success of the facility. Our knowledge of decision making by potential users should be improved to counterbalance these considerations. This paper addresses a quick scan study regarding the location choice of a large-scale P&R facility in the agglomeration of The Hague, the Netherlands. The study has been performed in co-operation with the regional authorities to find indications for the best location from the perspective of commuters. A choice based stated preference approach was applied to identify preferences of employees of offices in The Hague, living at a certain distance from The Hague. A focus was laid on travelling in one specific corridor. Based on the analysis of the collected data, the conclusion was drawn that the politically preferred location that does not fit well to the preferences of commuters.
