Who and where the "Carless" are and what transportation alternatives exist for them are identified. Data indicate the relations among carlessness, median income, race, age, and accessibility of public transport. The extent of carlessness in the suburban areas are examined and it is indicated that the problem of mobility among suburban households may be more severe than in the inner-city areas.
