Samenvatting

It is shown that the childhood accidents most likely to result in long term disability are those sustained on the roads and in recreation. A survey was carried out of all children acquiring a disability following an accident in some English regions during 1981 and 1982. Interpolation of these local data gives an estimate of between 2000- 3000 children being permanently disabled in Britain every year as a result of accidents.
