Samenvatting

The long- term effects of losing a spouse or a child in an automobile crash were examined. Interviews were conducted and it was shown that at least in the case of losing a spouse in an automobile crash, the data suggest that distress lasting 4- 7 years is not a sign of individual coping failure, but a normative response.
