Each decrease in the amount of lead in petrol must be welcomed. In the Netherlands the amount of lead in petrol was decreased from 0.75 gr PB/1 to 0.4 gr PB/1 in 1978. In 1986 the maximum permitted amount will be 0.15 gr PB/1. This article discusses mainly the medical aspects of less air pollution by lead via more clean exhaust fumes.
