In the UK, legislation is to be introduced banning the use of handheld mobiles by drivers. Hands-free kits will be able to be used. The characteristics, advantages, disadvantages and costs of the different types of hands-free equipment are described. The equipment considered includes basic earpieces, lightweight headsets, wireless headsets, skin conduction microphones, integrated speaker systems, mirror systems, and integrated telematics systems.
