Lost wheels, lost lives : a report on lost wheels from commercial vehicles and resulting fatalities and injuries.

This report tells the stories of families who have lost loved ones in accidents caused by detached wheels. This report charts research into, and recommendations made, regarding design and maintenance of commercial vehicle wheels. It provides case studies of maintenance practices within the industry. The report concludes that complex, voluntary recommendations on how to maintain wheels securely probably minimise wheel loss among operators who make the effort to comply with these guidelines, but do not stop wheel loss among operators who do not.
