Samenvatting

If the existing trends in urbanisation in India continue there will be over 600 cities with a population of 100000 and above by the end of this century. These cities have problems of no less magnitude than cities in the developed world, over and above the problems special to developing countries. Traffic and road safety conditions in these medium sized towns and cities are very poor. From the analysis of the data collected from the field studies, low cost traffic solutions (LCTS) such as one way street, parking regulation, entry control, channellising islands signalisation and pedestrian facilities and also medium range plans have been worked out.
