Samenvatting
Regulations regarding the visual requirements for driving are set individually by each state in the USA. Data on the visual requirements for driving licensing were collected and verified from all 51 jurisdictions. Results were tabulated and analysed with special attention to the regulations pertaining to driving with vision impairment. The results demonstrate a significant lack of uniformity across states that is attributed to the paucity of reliable information about the level of visual function needed for safe driving. Possible explanations for the differing regulations and visual criteria set by various states are discussed. (Author/publisher)
