The "Outlook on the land side accessibility of the Dutch National Airport" study carried in 1999, aimed to assess accessibility alternatives of the national airport. In this subreport, different accessibility concepts are described in greater detail. Accessibility concepts are determined through an iterative design process of generation and selection. The challenge is to explore the total scope of accessibility concepts in combination with airport alternatives, without losing the overview in an enormous amount of combinations. The solution applied was to split the total research into a number of steps from abstract to concrete, whereby after each step a selection is made. Eventually, a selection of seven basic concepts for the land side accessibility of the airport was made. The most important selection criteria were the capture of the complete scope from a standalone shuttle to a complete integration into existing transport networks, the quality for the different demand segments, and the logic of combinations of transport systems. The basic accessibility concepts were then connected to the different airport alternatives.
