There has always been a shortage of facts in the field of traffic safety, not about the numbers of deaths and injuries, but about the seemingly obscure causes of the epidemic of life and limb. It is now possible to document an early trend of death and injury reduction due to improvements in vehicle design. It is hoped that this will provide the needed stimulus for further research and improvement which cannot fail to provide the benefits of a continued reduction in the epidemic toll. The university research team studies all aspects of collision safety but the relation of vehicle design to injury causation has been of particular interest. The detailed investigation of a particular traffic accident follows a detailed schedule.
