The Urban Traffic Management (UTMC) programme, established by the UK Department for Transport in 1997, aimed to provide assistance to local authorities in making effective and efficient use of mainstream technology to deliver a range of policy objectives. This article takes a look at progress made and draws conclusions about the use of equipment and systems.
