In an effort to reduce crashes involving beginning drivers, almost all U.S. states have three stages for phasing-in driving privileges for young drivers, while a number of states have further increased their restrictions.This article gives an overview of new license restrictions for beginning drivers in a number of states such as Delaware, Tennessee, Maryland, Colorado, Connecticut, Oklahoma, Hawaii, Wyoming, and Montana. Many of the states have multi-stage licensing systems, while others are including cell phone bans, restrictions on unsupervised driving hours, and limiting the number of passengers in vehicles.
