Samenvatting

The purpose of this VTI report is to estimate costs for noise, traffic safety and road wear and tear for buses and light weight trucks. The marginal cost for noise is differentiated between roads with various traffic load and roads with differently populated surroundings. In areas with 1—100 people per square kilometer, which is most common, the marginal cost for buses with two axles is in the interval 0,000007—0,002125 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer. For buses with more than two axles the corresponding marginal cost interval is 0,000009—0,002867 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer. The noise marginal cost for light trucks are the same as for passenger cars, 0,000003—0,000827 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer in areas with 1—100 persons per square kilometer. The total marginal cost for bus accidents is 1,89 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer in non-urban areas, 0,91 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer in urban areas and 1,22 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer on an average road. For light trucks the total marginal cost is 0,19 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer in urban as well as non-urban areas. The marginal external accident cost for buses is 1,30 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer in non-urban areas and 0,77 per vehicle kilometer in urban areas. The marginal external accident costs of light trucks are 0,11 and 0,14 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer in non-urban and urban areas respectively. The marginal cost for maintenance of paved roads is, for an average bus, 0,13 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer on highways, national roads and primary county roads. On other roads the corresponding marginal cost is 0,29 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer. Over all types of roads the average marginal cost for road maintenance is 0,14 Swedish crowns per vehicle kilometer. The impact on road wear and tear from light trucks is so small that this cost can be left without consideration.
