Samenvatting

An approach is made to the problem of inter-subject variability in maximum performance achieved in several driving tasks and its relationship to spontaneous activity in the automatic nervous system. Spontaneous activity was measured while the subjects were resting. Afterwards the subjects participated in a driving experiment consisting of 1) open road velocity production and maintenance, 2) steady-state car-following, and 3) transient car-following tasks. Results are given.
