McGill Automotive Collision Investigation Project.

An attempt is made to identify the nature and magnitude of local expressway safety problems and to illustrate the need for additional and/or improved vehicle safety standards in Canada. Potential losses on Montreal expressways are categorized. A sample of potential hazards on these expressways is illustrated by accidents involving crossovers resulting from lack of median barriers, and roadside poles or fences inadequately protected or improperly installed.
