Samenvatting

Head protection provided by helmets or padding on the impacted cadaver skull surface was examined. Using unembalmed human cadaver subjects, frontal and lateral head impacts were conducted. Head acceleration and intracranial pressures were measured in order to determine the head and brain responses. Brain response was further analyzed with the aid of a finite element brain model; each impact was simulated on the computer to determine brain stresses and displacement during the impact.
