The quality of medical assistance to persons injured in a traffic accident is evaluated. Medical assistance can be improved significantly by a better use of present modern technologies. Good care for severely injured persons depends on the speed and quality of the medical assistance: the first hour after the accident is a critical period for many injured persons. Therefore the ambulance should be considered as a preparation room for the operating room of a trauma-centre. The technology and the knowledge for good injury care are present in the netherlands, but they are used insufficiently, because the organization of injury care is not good. A new kind of organization for good quality of trauma care is suggested.
