Methanol is one of the most common congener alcohol's and is constituent of almost all alcoholic beverages. In contrast with the fuset alcohol's it is no by-product of the fermentation process. After the consumption of alcoholic beverages methanol is absorbed like ethanol, but slower. The blood methanol concentration can be measured. According to experiences methanol analysis in blood sampled can be useful for the detection and diagnosis of chronic alcohol abuse.
