Samenvatting

This study demonstrates the feasibility of using real-time traffic data which varies on a time scale of minutes to provide travel time data to customers who wish to journey between any two nominated points in a traffic network at any time of the day. The type of data which the system can provide to a customer is very dependent on the customer's needs. The information delivery and request media may be any of SMS messages, voice or internet. Data delivery may be at the request of the customer (pull) or as the provider sees fit (push). The various components of the travel time generator are discussed and some results from it are compared with those from an independent study.
