Samenvatting

This paper describes some of the equipment at present available for carrying out test on the braking performance of road vehicles. The methods employed include the measurement of the braking forces at each wheel of the declaration during braking and of the braking distances from a known speed. The accuracy and consistency of an assessment made by means of test equipment is affected by variability due to uncontrolled factors and by the accuracy with which the various parts of the operation can be performed. The equipment has been examined from this standpoint and the result are given. Some of the facts which have to be considered in arriving standards and test procedures are indicated and discussed.
