Samenvatting

The object of the research presented is to develop methods that could be used to measure driver performance and workload whether the test is done in a driving simulator or in an instrumented vehicle. This paper starts with an inventory of different test methods divided in three classes: primary measures, physiological measures and secondary tasks. Then follows the presentation of a simulator study in which different measurements were made under controlled conditions. This was made in order to identify the best indicators for the object of the research project. A validation of the methodology using field experiments was also carried out. Finally, comparisons are made together with sensitivity analysis and a discussion of the results.
