Samenvatting

In a before and after study of 16 pedestrian crossovers (PXO's) in Toronto, non- injury accidents were found to migrate to the PXO's from adjacent locations, and minimal injuries to increase at both the PXO's and surrounding locations. In 1986 a study was conducted to try to determine how much of the increase in accidents and injuries at pedestrian crossovers consisted of "created" accidents and injuries and how much of this local increase had migrated from adjacent locations. It was found that migration was a factor with accidents but not with injuries.
