Samenvatting

The objective of Genesis is to test and evaluate the effectiveness of a portable, digital personal communications device (PCD). Use of a PCD overcomes the static-location limitation of a fixed receiver, which is commonly found with many intelligent vehicle highway systems. PCD's will provide travelers with real-time, route-specific information on the operating conditions of highway and mass transit systems. Travelers will use this information to make informed modal, route, and re-routing decisions. This paper presents the ongoing Genesis operational test, and highlights progress to date. (A)
