Samenvatting

Minnesota's Intelligent Vehicle Initiative Specialty Vehicle Field Operational Test seeks to identify the safety and operational impacts of the technology, guide future decisions regarding installation on specialized vehicles, and encourage the development and appropriate deployment of such systems on all vehicle platforms. The technologies will be tested starting Autumn 2001 in four snowplows, a squad car, and an ambulance. A key aspect is driver acceptance and ability to use these systems while performing driving duties and operating other specialized equipment under poor visibility conditions. As part of the design phase, extensive human factors testing of driver interfaces is underway by the University of Minnesota Human Factors Research Lab. For the covering abstract see ITRD E209471.
