Samenvatting

The importance of mobility for elderly drivers is outlined. Some drivers with cognitive impairment perform as effectively as younger drivers because of compensatory strategies such as avoiding complex road situations. Age related deficits in information processing, higher order visual and cognitive impairment, dementia, variability in driving performance in the elderly population, arthritis/major diseases, moves to increase safety for the older driver, research methodology, driver assessment mobility centres, new technologies, and telematics are explored in a series of slides from a computer presentation.
