Samenvatting

In order to manage and control the growth of leisure travel by car it is necessary to get insights in the mobility trends and in the accessibility profile of important leisure destinations. These issues in leisure travel are described from a marketing point of view. A distinction is made between recreation and tourism. The study tries to answer the question: "How can the modal split in leisure travel be influenced or changed in favour of the train?"
