Samenvatting

The objective of this paper is to examine the mobility of students and school leavers utilizing panel data. In addition a methodology is outlined which seems appropriate to control for a number of problems of cross-sectional data. Changes in income, household car ownership and school distance have different effects on mobility than expected on the basis of cross- sectional models for students. These groups experience significant state-dependent effects, which are larger for the older students. The effects of mobility experiences while in school or mobility after leaving school are limited despite an apparent stability in mode usage.
