Samenvatting
A basic assumption of most recent traffic studies has been the high value put on the saving of time of travel. This book brings into question the traditional concepts and suggests the need for a new approach to transportation planning. From the six studies described in the book it is evident that current theories of modal choice and the accepted values of travel time used in applied planning studies are seriously at fault. Planning and policy models with a rigorously justified behavioural basis must be developed.
