Samenvatting

Given the significance of travel time uncertainty in choice of route and departure time, most of drivers, particularly commuters behave risk-aversely. This paper attempts to formulate such risk-taking behavior over a general queuing network with advanced traveler information system (ATIS). Suppose that drivers equipped with ATIS will make their choices based on the complete information about travel time and its possible variations, while drivers not equipped with A TIS have to choose based on their past experience and subjective understandings. The mixed behavior time-dependent equilibrium problem is formulated as a nonlinear complementarity problem and a heuristic route/time-swapping approach is proposed to solve the problem. Finally, the implementation of ATIS on a toy network is investigated under varied values of market penetration.
