Samenvatting

Agent-oriented programming is a major new trend in software programming after object-oriented programming. We can divide the problem into pieces of sub-problems, each of which can be solved by a group of agents. Thus, among the issues concerning the design of an agent framework, agent communication is the most important one, which makes agent interoperable. Agents can reside in these computers and communicate or negotiate with each other when they are need to and if they are aware of each other. The expressing power of AGLET, a powerful MAS framework developed by IBM Japan Lab, and the electronic data interchange (EDI) standard of XML will be integrated to design an agent message format to efficiently and flexibly exchange information between agents.
