Samenvatting

Evaluation of ITS requires dynamic and detailed traffic models to be used. In the DYMO project, detailed studies of the usability of four dynamic traffic models were carried out. The selected models CORSIM, AIMSUN2, INTEGRATION and CONTRAM-I all have characteristics that make them suitable to study ITS applications. Coding, calibration and test runs for interesting ITS applications were made and evaluated on the same premises for all models. Some of the main conclusions are that dynamic modelling is good for evaluating traffic control and has potential for other ITS applications. Generally the algorithms for route choice are dubious. With proper calibration, mesoscopic and microscopic simulation models can be very useful in understanding the dynamic nature in traffic. (A*)
