922 high school pupils who had driven mopeds in 1991 answered an extensive questionnaire regarding accidents, mileage, adjusting of the moped (by adjusting is meant anything that will increase the speed) and other factors that might have a connection with accident risk and adjusting. Logistic regression was used to isolate the effect of adjusting on accident risk. The analysis showed that adjusting increased the risk of accidents. Differences were also found between those who tuned their moped and those who did not. The first group used their mopeds in a more accident prone way. (A)
