Samenvatting
Definitions in current use in fetal and infant mortality are presented. The levels of fetal and infant mortality in 1980 and the changes recorded since 1960 are described. The comparability of statistics from the various countries, the limitations of geographical and historical comparisons and the factors which must be taken into account in such comparisons are discussed. Analysis reveals low mortality rates in Denmark and the Netherlands, and high rates in Greece and Italy.
