Samenvatting

This volume is written to help the reader understand the unique characteristics of the motorcycle, which are an essential part of the reconstruction of motorcycle accidents. The author investigated over 170 motorcycle accidents and reports that very little automobile accident reconstruction experience can be transferred. The integration and complexity of the motorcycle rider with the machine makes accident cause determinations more complex and difficult. The evidence left by a motorcycle is scant in comparison to that left in automobile accidents; nevertheless, a trained reconstructionist can observe and translate the evidence left after a collision. This book covers brakes, tires and wheels, highway factors, conspicuity, rider factors, crash protection, wobbles and weaves, evasive action, quasi motorcycles, inquiries, and methods. It is appropriate for all accident reconstructionists, engineers, attorneys, and law enforcement professionals.
