This bulletin contains statistics on motoring offences dealt with by the police in 1997 and earlier years. Data are provided for: (a) prosecutions; (b) written warnings; (c) fixed penalties; (d) the vehicle defect rectification scheme (VRDS); (e) driving licence disqualifications. Where the offence resulted in court proceedings, data are provided for type of offence, the average fines, the number and type of sentences, and the drivers age and sex. Data are also provided for earlier years (the time span provided depends on the data provided). (Author/publisher)
