Samenvatting
This article reviews codes of practice for motorway lighting in various countries and describes the main categories of lighting systems classified according to the mounting height used. The light distribution characteristics of lanterns in various part of the world are presented together with the different types of light sources, switch control methods and maintenance techniques.
