Samenvatting

Generic techniques for Open Systems Architecture design were used to allow a highly optimised database, developed for military command and control applications, to be ported onto standard Unix hardware. The facilities thus made available allowed existing real-time traffic data sources to be combined into a coherent traffic monitoring and control system. The whole system required no new expenditure on traffic monitoring hardware and demonstrated the benefits to be gained from combining Legacy systems with distributed databases. The work has significance for all ATT applications. (A)
