One of the items of the Dutch Multi-Year Programme for Traffic and Transport 1980-1984 is to promote cycle traffic outside built-up areas by creating special cycling facilities and to study the results. For this reason projects were started in the provinces of Gelderland and Limburg. This summary report gives an account of the most important findings with regard to the project in the province of Gelderland and whether the cycle track outside the built-up areas in this province has been a success or not.
