Samenvatting

In 1990, the Boston Self Help Centre offered a course entitled "using public transportation". With cooperation from local transit providers, students learned how to use multi-modal accessible services. This paper reviews accessible transport services in Massachusetts and outlines the need for travel training. It describes travel training activities at Boston Self Help Centre and offers recommendations for designing and leading travel training programs. It concludes with a listing of travel training programs supported by project action, a national transportation project of the Easter Seals Society.
