Samenvatting
Recently, the concept of multifunctional land use (MLU) has gained much popularity in the Netherlands. This concept comprises the combination and integration of different forms of land use or spatial functions on the same demarcated location. In this paper, MLU is treated as a special case of clustering and addressed from a firm's perspective. By means of a literature review and a modelling attempt, attention is paid to the MLU characteristics, the rationale for firms to cluster, and the factors that restrict firms to apply MLU concepts.
