Samenvatting

Car entertainment systems are getting more and more complex. Through the introduction of large storage media such as HDD and DVD and because of the common use of compressed music (MP3, WMA), the volume of the media content increased rapidly. Nowadays, a car infotainment system which includes a 20 GB HDD, a DVD -player and a CD -changer can held approximately 5000 of music mp3 -coded titles. To find the desired content by browsing the devices while driving is more than a challenging task for the driver. In order to retain safety in the interaction with such entertainment systems and the corresponding huge content, drivers need additional assistance features. A concept which solves this problem is presented. The approach focuses on the content and its corresponding metadata description and attributes. It offers the user the capability to explore the content according to different attributes no matter on which device this content is located. Moreover the solution permits the user to find specific content easily without need for browsing each device separately. This way the driver remains concentrated on the driving task and will be supported by the multimedia assistant. For the covering abstract see ITRD E134653.
