Myelinated nerve fiber response to dynamic uniaxial stretch.

The response of myelinated nerve fibers to dynamic uniaxial stretch was investigated as part of an ongoing effort to establish functional and structural failure criteria for both neural and vascular tissues. Results show that the intracellular calcium concentration increased following rapid elongation of myelatinated nerve fibers.
