National traffic planning in developed countries : taking the Federal Republic of Germany as an example.

The cooperation between science and administration in traffic infrastructure planning is examined, more precisely in the planning of long distance traffic routes, which are in the direct responsibility of the German Federal government. The main characteristics of integrated programme planning are presented and discussed.
