In an unprecedented, joint effort to improve the accessibility of urban areas the central government, provinces and municipalities will carry out comprehensive analyses on transportation networks. The main objectives are a better, mutual understanding of the problems on the national, regional and local networks and consensus on cost-effective solutions to improve door to door accessibility. The project covers the urban areas of Randstad Holland (including Amsterdam, Rotterdam, the Hague and Utrecht), Groningen-Assen, Twente (including Enschede and Hengelo), Arnhem-Nijmegen, Eindhoven and Maastricht. The analyses are to be completed by the midth of 2006. The features of the project, the first results and the prospectives will be outlined at the “Colloquium Vervoersplanologisch Speurwerk” in Antwerp on November 24th and 25th, 2005.
