During the last decade the S.C.R. controller has evolves as the principal control system for battery electric vehicles of all types and sizes. Equipment is now available from a number of major suppliers covering power handling capacities from less than 1 KW to 100 KW and voltages ranging from 24 volts to 350 volts. The basis power circuit configurations have varied little over this period but improvement in power components and in the construction of the system have produces units that are compact in structure, more reliable in service and lower in cost.
