Logistics represents the complex of all activities devoted to modify time and space attributes of any resource is managed within a production and distribution system, such as materials, goods, products, personnel, labor, information, etc. Therefore, the design of a logistic system has to take into account a multiactor situation and a multiattribute attitude of the decision-making process. This paper presents a new design methodology for logistic integrated networks, based on the workbench and blackboard approaches, particularly suitable to providing tools for supporting the decisions of logistic managers. In particular, some modules of the design platform are outlined, able to deal with network simulation and transport optimization. Finally, an application to the design of a large-scale connective network of enterprises and logistic services is presented and discussed. For the covering abstract see ITRD E114174.
